Emanuele De Reggi - Biographical
Notes
Born in Florence in 1957, Emanuele grows up close to his grandfather, the painter Emanuele Cavalli.
In high school he attends classical studies. After graduating he sets off on a series of long travels taking him through Central America, the Far East, Australia and India.
In 1981 he attends the Free School of Nude in Florence.
The same year he returns to Australia where he lives for three years and starts his sculptor career carving large figures in wood.

Emanuele returns to Italy in 1984 and for three years collaborates with Giulio Ciniglia in Pietrasanta, where he perfects his sculptor skills.
From 1988 to 1989 he lives in New York, working in theatre set design
In 1989 he lives in Barcelona and the following year sets up his own studio in Pietrasanta on the coast of Tuscany.
- 1992 he collaborate with Dider Legrand to the restorations of The Fountain of “Transumanza”, Avellino
-1994 he collaborates with the architect Lorenzo Berni to the restyling of Andersen Consulting headquarters in Milan, a building designed by Gio Ponti. He creates a group of three large sculptures for the main hall.
-1995 he execute the restoration for “the stone of fever”, Le Puy en Velay, France |
-1996 He collaborates wit Jesus Moctezuma, for Domus in Milan, to an experimental project of packaging design.
He sets for a long travel around the world and stops in a small Fiji island where he will return several times in the following years.
-1997 The Italian Chamber of Deputies acquire one of his sculpture for the permanent collection.
- 2001 wins the first price with a sculpture project for the celebration of the
50th Anniversary of the flood of the Polesine region.
He collaborates with arch. Italo Iemmi and Arch.Lorenzo Berni for the new building of the Council of Parma
- 2004 he executed a monumental figure for a square of Newport News, Virginia USA
In 2006 he sets for another long travel around the world, visiting several country of South America, and later New Caledonia.
In 2007 he returns to India and Thailand , were he starts casting a series of large bronzes, one of them commissioned by the city of Newport News, Virginia, for the square of the Public Library
In 2009 continues the collaboration with the studio of arch. Lorenzo Berni, in Milan
Presently he lives and works between Bangkok and Pietrasanta, Italy. |
